The last chance to avoid it was 2010. They decided to ignore it and go for the short term expedient of using the IRS and indeed all of the Alphabet soup to crush those dangerous terrorist stay at home moms aka the Tea Party. And apparently the Koch Brothers et al bought whatever top level leadership emerged.

So win 2012 !!

And lost the nation beyond reconciliation.

They also decided to go beyond punk snark into obscene mortal insult with the Mosque at Ground Zero. A fire that was put out at the last minute by Richard Haas of the NY Council on Foreign Relations. Apparently they CAN get involved in municipal issues. Seriously he stopped it, but the damage was done. If you want to shit on the grave of murdered kin….

It was probably unavoidable due to a fatal clash of interests. They want more money than actually exists – worse they need more money than exists and we want to keep what little we have left.

As to the assortive brain selection…genocide just got more acceptable.

Indeed! I especially like the way “authoritarian” is operationalized to exclude compulsory regard for the authority of the state in mandating associations. Should surveys include questions like “Should business owners be required to extend benefits equitably regardless race, sexual orientation, blah blah, blah?” You’d get an entirely different distribution of “authoritarian”.

I couldn’t agree more. This exactly matches my anecdotal experience; usually children solidify the conversion because empathy gets highly focused to the exclusion of “equality”.

Amazing chart — though there is one caveat that makes this story less dire: Women vote Democrat as a signaling device to show that they are empathic (and thus would make good mothers). So, it’s often not a big problem to date otherwise-sane, attractive and fertile women who self-identify as Democrats. I’ve seen them swing around to more conservative viewpoints many times as a relationship progresses. They are transferring their allegiance from the state to the man. Particularly in major US cities, there really aren’t gonna be that many self-identifying conservative white women in their 20s and 30s. I’ve dated several self-proclaimed conservatives and I don’t see where they were better overall. They had their own issues. So as long as a woman is fair-minded and doesn’t have tattoos, super-short hair or an obesity issue that would make a conversion to conservatism difficult, I’m willing to give them a shot.
