Yes, they are a bit ridiculous looking. I'll probably wait for a second or third iteration, but then, I don't have the funds to be an early adopter at this time in my life.

The larger point? Here is the first step in a new direction for personal computing with thousands of possible applications once it's perfected. Yet all these lowly Cathedral monks and nuns can do is tsk-tsk about patriarchy and the unbearable whiteness of the early adopters.

Seriously skewed priorities. God help us if this worldview ever infiltrates the world of science and technology (it has already infiltrated symbolically, but as Donglegate proved, no one actually believes it). Can you imagine if r/d decisions had to be vetted and controlled by "authentic" cultures?

Luddites are one thing - I've had my moments, and frankly the things do look a little silly at this point. But it's the infernal pact, between the luddites and the man-haters that really gets me going.

"What drives women to cruise Web sites such as PrisonPenPals.com, WriteaPrisoner.com, ConvictMailbag.com, and Meet-an-Inmate.com." - Wow it's a growth market.

"Night Stalker" Richard Ramirez, who killed 13 in a 1985 reign of terror that included rape, torture and the gouging out of eyes, still receives bags full of mail 21 years after entering San Quentin's death row — and 13 years after marrying someone who wrote him 75 letters. A friend of mine who works with the prison system says she watched Ramirez being "mobbed" with applications from women wanting to visit him. Wife-killer Scott Peterson got a marriage proposal during his first hour on death row." - Nothing new in this phenomena. The variety of pschological explanations does suggest to me that his is a deeply embedded cultural decay of some sort.

Oh man, that would make the Critical Theorists heads explode (not that that's a bad thing...).

The irony is that art derivative of pop culture is derivative of consumerism and thus psychologically narcissism. Yet, you will find no worldview more narcissistic than the Left's. It's projection and self-loathing.
