More Madness
Insanity night continues here in Shanghai with this perfected distillation of Leftist delirium:
.@Paulskemp @monsterhunter45 If ppl are equal, then equality of opportunity will by definition lead to equality of outcomes
— Arthur Chu (@arthur_affect) June 12, 2014
Spoiler: He actually believes the initial hypothetical is true.
Friday the 13th man.
Considering everything that I’ve seen today…now I know why they think it brings bad luck.

He can’t be fucking serious.
Didn’t the guy win Jeopardy? Doesn’t he realize most people would .. completely fail there?

“Jeopardy” only measures ability to quickly recall trivia.

I heard that you also need to use proper strategy or something.
Still, retentive memories are usually found in smarter people.

Well, um, hrm. I suppose the guy’s right in a very banal sense: if you take identical things and subject them to identical conditions, then of course (duh) you should get the same result (“equality of outcomes”). If that does not hold, then there must, by definition, have been some difference (or “inequality”, in leftese) between them (a difference in their starting circumstances and/or in their treatment).
So it could just be evidence of the guy being spergish.
What this tells us is that part of the rightwardising process is accepting (and even, gasp, sometimes promoting) inequality in circumstances and/or treatment.

Like Marxism (as a whole), it works perfectly as a reductio.

Even if people WERE identical, they would NEVER be subject to identical conditions. The only way to do this is to ensure that each person lives the exact same life.
His logic fails on multiple levels.

What’s funniest is that if he came to Shanghai or Beijing and said that he’d be laughed out of the room.
Just today I was discussing the North/South split in China with a northeasterner (东北人) and she told me lots more differences between northerners and southerners that are considered deeply ingrained culturally or even genetic. The conversations that go on in HBD comment sections cause as much stir in China as the weather and baseball in America.

From the perspective of hardcore sinophilia I have to say the tendency to conformity is real and deep. In a civilized country, Arthur would make a great copycat iphone manufacturer. In American he turns into a copycat Cathedral-ideology freak.

trouble is the Marxist will then say, “Then we must endeavor at all costs to make them equal.”

I read about this guy in an issue of Radish mag. He’s said far, far more lunatic things than this one. Imagine a quote like this, but just going on and on, tinctured with bizarrely violent and militant rhetoric.

True, but Mao Mini-me and his ilk do push the likes of Scott Alexander away from progdom. They also serve who only stand and inanely tweet.

@R. That and fishing for the “daily doubles” which is what he continuously did, much to the frustration of the rest of my family. We hoped he would lose every night he was on.
