Patri-Archy
Patri Friedman’s Cuddly Alt-NRx project seems to be coming together nicely. Aesthetics aside, there’s very little to object to. A few hard stompings from Leviathan and the nastiness should re-import itself automatically.
(His critique of Caplan is basically indistinguishable from mine, except that it’s vastly more polite.)

Anything that ends up promoting real mechanisms for free association can package itself any way it likes — it heads hard right.

This is awesome. We need more entrants in the Compassionate Fascism space. Genghis Khan, now with added benevolence!

Indeed, this could act as a “gateway drug”.

The connection with entropy is surely there and I think you can view religion as providing the counter force. As usual, Confucianism provides the most straightforward example, since Confucianism explicitly takes respect of differences (making the right distinctions) to be a basic component of excellence. Now, how does the Confucian achieve this? Though self-cultivation. This self-cultivation is itself simply putting energy into understanding and respecting the relevant differences (Confucian learning). So Confucianism is really saying: expend some energy on self-maintenance and we can maintain social order. It also includes prohibitions against wasting time on trivialities that aren’t conducive to self-cultivation (as do all traditions). This basically amounts to not spending your leisure time on pointless indulgences. Our age is one where such trivialities have multiplied, crowding out any time for self-cultivation, allowing entropy to consume us. Basically, a society that doesn’t use its leisure time (the energy left over after meeting its needs) on self-maintenance will head towards heat death and high-tech leisure activities are an accelerant.
(Punchline: “…and that’s why you shouldn’t talk about anime on Twitter.”)

The bulk of the people affiliated with neoreaction are a dangerous in straight-forward terms and not in the way they want. This project has a rather large chance of becoming a failure because of the dangerous personalities that inhabit it whereas he seems like a capable individual with enough sanguine empiricism to be able to execute.
