Of course, but don't sleep on crystals. In my experience crystal energy is legitimate, but too subtle to be perceived by many. Also not the type of healing you'd want to enlist for any acute condition.

You cast a wide net over enslavement: enslavement is contingency for the cult of Liberty; but a narrower one over technology: Real technology is technical. I'd be more inclined to look at language, currency, agriculture etc. as technology (and also technical), and question (as you do) whether many people view contingency (i.e. existence) as enslavement at all or rather see their existence perverted or enslaved by fellow men and the technological systems imposed by/upon them. Enslavement not as contingency but an involuntary narrowing of contingent reality.

The mouse is incontinent; the plant doesn't shit... Humans, somewhere inbetween - but I wouldn't describe any as automatically enslaved by their bowels (or lack thereof). Hand the human over to Dr Kellogg on the other hand, and it becomes a different story.

Meanwhile, in Russia, the Sith Lords reign. Our host should appreciate this:

http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/11/hidden-author-putinism-russia-vladislav-surkov/382489

"In the 21st century, the techniques of the political technologists have become centralized and systematized, coordinated out of the office of the presidential administration, where Surkov would sit behind a desk with phones bearing the names of all the “independent” party leaders, calling and directing them at any moment, day or night. The brilliance of this new type of authoritarianism is that instead of simply oppressing opposition, as had been the case with 20th-century strains, it climbs inside all ideologies and movements, exploiting and rendering them absurd. One moment Surkov would fund civic forums and human-rights NGOs, the next he would quietly support nationalist movements that accuse the NGOs of being tools of the West. With a flourish he sponsored lavish arts festivals for the most provocative modern artists in Moscow, then supported Orthodox fundamentalists, dressed all in black and carrying crosses, who in turn attacked the modern-art exhibitions. The Kremlin’s idea is to own all forms of political discourse, to not let any independent movements develop outside of its walls. Its Moscow can feel like an oligarchy in the morning and a democracy in the afternoon, a monarchy for dinner and a totalitarian state by bedtime."

"Egor [Surkov's fictional alter ego] is a manipulator but not a nihilist; he has a very clear conception of the divine: “Egor could clearly see the heights of Creation, where in a blinding abyss frolic non-corporeal, un-piloted, pathless words, free beings, joining and dividing and merging to create beautiful patterns.”

The heights of creation! Egor’s god is beyond good and evil, and Egor is his privileged companion: too clever to care for anyone, too close to God to need morality. He sees the world as a space in which to project different realities. Surkov articulates the underlying philosophy of the new elite, a generation of post-Soviet supermen who are stronger, more clearheaded, faster, and more flexible than anyone who has come before."

Doesn't that just beat all.

my theory is that the cult of liberty (one of the three original branches of revolution) sees itself as perpetually enslaved. Since man is not an absolute power, he is always subservient to something (including his body or even his soul or mind) this interdependency blocks off the realization of absolute volition.

The machines are brought in by the worshipers of LIBERTY because they see man enslaved to the seasons, to weather, to plants, and to animals. Machines are much more controllable by man, and it seems like man will enslave them rather than the other way around. Once mechanization is achieved, it is shown that man is enslaved again - (or that he is always contingent, you retards)

Especially those who disidentify (see @kgaard above) with the mechanization feel themselves most enslaved. Neo-ludditism, the kind of re-negotiation with technology that say, Obama's campaign represents (lots of young people on social media), points to a time when instead of going back to being enslaved by plants and weather (notice the huge rage about potential man-made effects to the climate) man will achieve some kind of spiritual rebirth, transcending 'technology' as technology.

This theory expands to their bailiwicks, especially 1. Apple computers, which are the 'it just works' computer. Computer as appliance, not as technology. Computer as tool and not as machine. 2. Social media, it's just like talking to people but everywhere. Just type and press enter. Just click. No moving parts.

Real technology is technical. It fails (see rockets and space ships) - it involves tragedy and it involves heroism and it involves victory. You cannot forget about it (who knows what it will do when left to itself - probably ... fail.) Neo-ludditism is the sense of hating technology but resolving that by creating non-technical technologies that feel like tools, so as to forget the machines.

The very fact that Obama isn't black, but half-black, half-white, is the real tell here; the technical detail that he is a mulatto - a different third - is lost in the simplicity of him feeling like a black 'magic negro' messiah.
