Quote notes (#92)

Gary Oldman, neoreactionary hero:

PLAYBOY: What’s your view of the future? Are you optimistic about where society is heading?
OLDMAN: [Pauses] You’re asking Gary?
PLAYBOY: Yes.
OLDMAN: I think we’re up shit creek without a paddle or a compass.
PLAYBOY: How so?
OLDMAN: Culturally, politically, everywhere you look. I look at the world, I look at our leadership and I look at every aspect of our culture and wonder what will make it better. I have no idea. Any night of the week you only need to turn on one of these news channels and watch for half an hour. Read the newspaper. Go online. Our world has gone to hell.

ADDED: The punishment begins (and comment from Radix).

ADDED: “Oldman also said that if you didn’t vote for ’12 Years a Slave’ at the Oscars, you were considered racist.” (A transparently preposterous claim, apparently.)

What does it matter? They’ve already got you viewing and commenting on extremist hate sites. That’s more than enough to get rid of you if they want.

Commissioner Gordon was my favorite character in the recent Batman movies, he seemed like such a fundamentally decent guy. We should make him our police commissioner when we take over.

Oldman’s been a Man of the Right for sometime. prolly somewhat insulated because of his Britishness. Surprisingly frank tho– esp. in defending the excommunicated Mel!

    Cantor.

The unthinkable is becoming speakable and rapidly.

Meanwhile USA Today says ban the Ex-Im bank [Export-Import Bank] as slush fund for cronies, among Bank of Boeing [60% of subsidies] Mexican Drug cartels and Solyndra are mentioned.

That it’s in USA Today is worth mentioning, it’s hard to get more blandly mainstream. Probably most of it’s readers have never heard of Export/Import Bank, and yet we hear of it as Cantor’s replacement wants to let it die in the name of the Free market. Personally I think we do need to keep Boeing and for that matter Chrysler’s Tank Factory [the M1 Abrams] open at taxpayer cost as necessary, along with the rest of any strategic national industrial base. We certainly will do it for bankers.

But the important part is what’s suddenly no longer sacred.

Global Warming’s just took another hit as well. Once one tenet of the faith is exposed as utter fraud [decades of Officially falsified data, it’s been cool or cooling since the 1930s] then other aspects of the faith come under suspiscion. In all cases vast sums changed hands, as well as crony/academic fraud.

Exit was never a political option, not a realistic one in any case.

The Cathedral’s only counter now it seems is opening the border and hoping for the best, and that’s not working too well either.

    OTOH…Uhhh..

“M., embodying the ISIS ideology, railed against the aspirations for democracy in the Arab world.

“Look at Egypt. Look at the way it ended for Muslims who cast their vote for [deposed President] Mohammed Morsi and believed in your democracy, in your lies. Democracy doesn’t exist. Do you think you are free? The West is ruled by banks, not by parliaments, and you know that. You know that you’re just a pawn, except you have no courage. You think of yourself, your job, your house … because you know you have no power. But fortunately, the jihad has started. Islam will get to you and bring you freedom.”

Christopher Nolan (director of the Batman flicks) is most likely right of center, as well. Bane was created by a couple comic writers well-known to be conservatives. And the jab at the Occupy movement in that final movie is blatantly obvious:

Gordon: “Are you just going to stand by while your city is being occupied!?!”

The apology was a little over the top. It skirts the fine line between effusive and mocking.
