Given that “opportunity” is mostly hereditary, this hardly matters for the topic at hand.

That is true, which is why I created the concept of the meritocracy stratified by IQ . High-iQ and low-iq people have their own meritocracies. Low-IQ meritocracies may involve low-paying jobs. High-iQ meritocracies may involve science, VC, academia, etc. The left wants to shunt resources from the smartest and divert them to the least, aka reverse Darwinism. Pragmatists and utilitarians seek to optimize resources in such a way that the smartest can fulfill their cognitive potential , benefiting society as whole. But right now we kinda have the reverse.

@grey enlightenment: “meritocacy stratified by iq” – Declaration of a formal caste system based on Moldbug’s cladistics would be a palatable halfway step between here and neocameralism.
“Pragmatists and utilitarians seek to optimize resources in such a way that the smartest can fulfill their cognitive potential , benefiting society as whole. But right now we kinda have the reverse” – and that would be the perfect way to make it more palatable to the mainstream. By appealing to their sense of altruism.
Our debt to “Harrison Bergeron” (despite its intent) is insufficiently acknowledged.

“That’s my girl,” said George. He winced. There was the sound of a rivetting gun in his head.
“Gee – I could tell that one was a doozy,” said Hazel.
“You can say that again,” said George.
“Gee-” said Hazel, “I could tell that one was a doozy.”
