To be more clear, while it’s likely an intelligent person will hold silly beliefs when they’re in their late teens or early 20s that they will later discard in the face of more experience/evidence (*cough*deontological libertarianism*cough*), they’ll still be able to discuss these beliefs fluently.

I don’t think it really works that way–if someone isn’t already pretty damn coherent by 23, they’re just not ever going to get there. You guys are probably just conflating the separate outgroups of People Younger Than You and Stupid People, since there is a ton of overlap (although there’s a ton of overlap between Stupid People and pretty much every group).

I agree, the worst part of it was watching a 23-year-old learn how to use words on a public stage. That interview should have been happening in private in a class room somewhere where the teacher could then course-correct her, not in Salon. But she brought it on herself, so it takes on a morbid humor.

That’s exactly what it is, and once she got attention she didn’t know what to do with it. She’ll probably end up as a barrista at Starbucks and writing blog posts for some pseudo-Marxist/feminist/etc blog that exploits her to sell shampoo ads.

I think real change is going to happen from the bottom up and it’s going to be happening on a grass-roots level apart from these political structures.

She is the culture war equivalent of a false flag operation. Seriously. She must be a conservative plant. The blind, unthinking hate that girds all “social justice” rhetoric is on full display here. Even the interviewer seems to be wanting to distance herself from Park.

Or, if Park is serious, she is to be either pitied or feared. Pitied insofar as she has no real power. She must lie in bed at night seething with anger at a nameless entity that is her own construction. Makes you feel kind of bad for her, the way one feels bad for a crazy, cornered dog who is about to get captured and thrown into the pound. But feared insofar as her ideology does have destructive potential. if someone like Park were to gain any sort of real power . . . well, it’s the Suey Parks of the world who are much more likely to spark a genocide than the Moldbugs. Her words in that interview, coming from someone in power . . . that’s frightening. Let’s hope she stays comedy.
