Cthulhu is such a great piece of imagery and such a great metaphor for leftism/politics/the memetic fitness environment. Don't bother trying to change that.

Democracy is nothing less than a centuries long dark ritual to manifest Cthulhu in our world to lead us into a "holocaust of ecstasy and freedom". Jim's left singularity is the final manifestation of Cthulhu. Cthulhu is that which swims left.

For the Xenohorror mascot of the Outer Right, I'll admit that Cthulhu is pretty good. That fearsome Outer Thing of which glimpses are enough to drive people insane.

Perhaps the Necronomicon would be better imagery for the dark enlightenment?

We'll see which Cthulhu narrative wins. I'm full steam ahead with Cthulhu-as-leftism.

Yes -- it was over-determined by the who "So sorry" stuff and doesn't really work when that context recedes. I'd use your Harvard version, but I've got a long term ambition to salvage Cthulhu for the Outer Right, so I'm protesting it out of ideological stubbornness.

I think this one is a bit too close to "gas the s" for my liking.

A very simple t-shirt slogan that sums things up very well but remains cryptic:

"Cthulhu Ftagn"

Cthulhu is that which swims left. Cthulhu *is* politics, and His power is growing as His cultists pave the road for His return:

"That cult would never die till the stars came right again, and the secret priests would take great Cthulhu from His tomb to revive His subjects and resume His rule of earth. The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom."

The left singularity approaches. Get out your cosmic horror hats.

I'd like to make an entry on behalf of Pignarre and Stengers, though I do need to stress it is *not* official:

'I am a social problem'

Context (for the back design?):

No more than we can see a triumph of science or of social lucidity in the possibility that youngsters in banlieues might one day go around wearing t-shirts bearing the slogan 'I am a social problem', can we be satisfied with analyses that always come back to the same thing: it’s capitalism’s fault.
