Unfortunately I don’t.

I tried to re-find it myself already and to no avail. The article, if I remember correctly, was British and possibly included the phrase ‘community cohesion’. The Brits, of course, have outlawed ‘hate speech’ with the purpose of maintaining community cohesion, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find sufficient material to evince their mindset.

I did come across an article entitled ‘The world doesn't love the First Amendment’. http://blog.syracuse.com/opinion/2012/09/the_world_doesnt_love_the_firs.html
It includes:

“Even other Western nations take a more circumspect position on freedom of expression than we do, realizing that often free speech must yield to other values and the need for order. Our own history suggests that they might have a point.”

That article, however, is more descriptive and less prescriptive, nor is it clear the author considers himself to be liberal.

That is interesting. If one is inclined to agree and amplify, one should speak as the defenders of traditional and Christian mores spoke when they still had power, yet feared its waning.

I recently read an article agianst free speech. The gist of the argument in the article was that we must curtail peoples freedom in order to maintain the harmonious functioning of our multicultural society. A fundamentally conservative argument of course, yet the author somehow considerd themselves to be a ‘liberal’.

Reminds me of a review I saw some years ago of a British children's chess book, wherein the reviewess (maybe it was The Guardian? Why not assume so :) ) stated her dissatisfaction with the fact that the illustrative game provided was won by White; as she wrote, "It would have been much more inclusive to have the Black pieces win."

The way things are going in the UK, perhaps they'll issue a ruling soon that Black has to win 50 percent of the chess games played there? Or perhaps an American university will get there first.
