We need to keep poking it with a pointy-stick, and see what happens.

Without the media, the three-headed hydra of govt/media/academia starts to die, no? Media is the tool by which the ideas cooked up by academia are disseminated and used to create consent/support for leftist government action. That lever has been lost.

I could see a reversal of the whole project: Government office holders are increasingly Republican at every level and if there’s one thing they agree on it’s that universities have become insane. State universities are gonna see a major attack on their funding if they continue to pump out cultural marxist poison. This just seems logical.

“without the most relevant media . . .”

They can have the newspapers and cable TV.

The Cathedral is just avatar of the eternal human ego. It will be reborn in every age. These people are not particularly competent at leadership, but they sure are good at gaming the system. There are many like them. They are an eternal human archetype.

Would that leave the Cathedral open to serving as a fountain of Neoreaction?

The academy can be gutted in the 25 states with total Republican control, and 2 states with veto proof legislative majorities. That (to my knowledge) not a single state is contemplating major university reform is clear evidence of the Cathedral’s power.

Orthodox: the tide is just now starting its turn. It has only been a week! Once republicans figure out precisely how much power they have, they will push wherever they can to make changes. In principle republican majorities can increase from here as the legacy media become increasingly toothless vis a vis the alt media outlets.

Yes, the first thing Luther did after posting his 95 Theses was to argue that his University of Wittenberg should be gutted.

It is not that power of cathedral diminishing, but more likely it’s ability to influence have
been overestimated for long time. For example in Russia top positions in mass media occupied by CIA agents. Everybody knew that, for more then ten years, and nobody touch them.kind of embarrassing for CIA,but they used to it.

Not dead. In a mutational stage right now. It will mutate and make a final gasp for power at which it will fail profoundly.

The official press has failed in its effort to win the public of 2016, but the academy is still indoctrinating the public of the future. There is reason to hope, but to win you need to kill every head of the Hydra, not just one. Maybe Trump takes out the civil service, and the academy suffers from a collapse in prestige as the value of degrees approaches zero.

The weakest point of NRx, since Moldbug, had been religion. Spandrell has done good work, however, and we can perhaps tweak our model.

The Cathedral is the power structure of progressivism. It functions within the restraints of the post-puritanical memeplex. The question is not whether the Cathedral is falling or weakened, but if a better adapted power structure replaces it within the confines of progressive memetics, or if the adaptation is on the deeper level. Are we replacing progressivism with its status structure that focuses on Demotism with a new religion that allows for hierarchy, or are we just pissing in the wind?
