re: contracts, the other day, leading with the first quote to keep it loosely on topic while sharply loosing humour.
-> “if your word means nothing, your culture is garbage”
-> “If NW Europeans are giving up on the principle of contractual integrity, their age is done”
-> “Nothing outweighs a solemn contractual obligation in a civilized society”
-> “My hypothesis is that in a competitive system of cultures, the contractualists will disproportionately thrive.”

I would make the distinction asap between the social contract we find in Rousseau (let’s call that constractualist) and the covenant we find in Hobbes (contractarian). NRx could use more work on the latter – I’m interested to see how Hobbes really plays out behind the scenes as things go forward. As far as a covenant is concerned, however, less social agreement and more functional code is the aim. If nobody else wants in, I’ll do some arbitrary sign shuffling over the coming months. It would be interesting to see if (or how) smart contracts play out in your book (where can a fella make a modest donation?) but I’m sure there’s bigger whales to fry.

With smart contracts we’re seeing the development of languages such as Solidity, Pact, the Hyperledger Fabric, and so on, that will make formalisation a stark fact. As you said in a comment back in 2014, “[p]roperty is being re-implemented in functional, decentralized code, making it rigorously intelligible for the first time in history. It’s time to start catching up.” Given light blockchain adoption in the global cargo shipping industry, why not just expand our logical positivism to our phenomenological experience masquerading as the camouflage of satanic catallaxy…

As far as contracts and words are concerned, however — before asking “but does it compile?” — we could look at some entry-point shuffles from the past:

    • Hobbes (with Bodin and Filmer)
    • Dumezil, Mitra-Varuna, bond, pact, sovereignty (from which cascades an workable understanding of property)
    • D+G’s War Machine (Yarvin’s “sovereignty is conserved” is here read: “the state […] is defined by the perpetuation or conservation of organs of power. The concern of the state is to conserve.”)
    • Something better than an OED etymology shower.

But so long as source code is out there, one can build something.
It’s time to whip out the Amstrad, man, and revamp Freudenthal’s Lincos, or LISP 1.5, or Tic Xenotation.
It can and it will compile.

    i´ve always been interested in comparison of A. Crowley´s vs D&G´s War-Machine.

last time I googled those names + the concept this wasn´t there:

    Great photo of Shea!

Some exercises combining the Black Rite with breath are found in “Secrets of Western Tantra” by Christopher Hyatt. When successful, after going through the preparations Hyatt suggests, they can seem more powerful than psychedelics for quantum leaping out of the ordinary; caveat emptor.

The statement about “Illuminatus!” doing to the State what Voltaire did for religion reveals Shea and Wilson as philosopher-activists working to change things through artistic expression. It also aligns with the concept Deleuze and Guattari call the “war machine.” Other clear examples of this kind of war machine include chapter 3 of The Book of the Law and the Foreword to Nietzsche’s “Twilight of the Idols.” Of course, both Crowley and Nietzsche were strong influences for RAW. More on the war machine here:

That was good fun, the Crowley, thank you.

There’s also the Vom Kriege territory of von Clausewitz, which is well noted round ‘ere, yes? Up there with Malthus and Grotius, as far as pioneering pertinent topics are concerned.

As far as contracts are concerned, there are hints among the quibbles and deferrals (see below). Cnut, Szabo, these ethereum kids….

    Reposting this for posterity

If you don’t dig something, G., you can always diverge and do it better. Admin’s flesh recepticle is understandably libidinized given the events of the last few weeks. He’ll cool down. Only human. We’re not impressed with the whole “need to get this book finished but OH MAN THESE CUCCS THO PASS THAT POPCORN” line either. But hey. Senpai know. Some way to make an anonymous donation this Christmas season might be nice. Less pleb squabbling and more hard jams. If you ain’t paying, no point complaining.
