This is pretty damn strong proof of my theory:

[Robert Mariani]: “If we grant that the definition of dissent is the holding of a belief that is contrary to the prevailing ideology, then it’s not particularly difficult to categorize instances of such dissent.”

[Robert Mariani]: “@Simon Unpopularity is not the same thing as dissent. Just because socialist economic ideas are not popular does not mean that holding them qualifies them as dissent. If there are no social penalties based on holding them, they cannot belong in the dissent category.”

{AK}: In the first quote, you define dissent as “contrary to the prevailing ideology”.
In the second quote, you define “Unpopularity” as “not the same thing as dissent”.
In the second quote, you predicate dissent as being contingent on social penalties.

Aside from asking: what distinguishes social penalties, as visited by the social, from populist expression; or, what is the distinction between popularity & a prevailing ideology condemned for its populism; your initial definition in the first quote, only mentions contrariness to “prevailing ideology”, as a sufficient condition of dissent, which, by your own admission, would be inclusive of socialist economic ideas?

Was there any official response to this incident? I would think they would release some PR statement about condemning violence etc, etc but my searches reveal no such move taken. That is even more damning though not really surprising, the neoliberal establishment forces don’t even have to make the most token disavows of communism. Of course this is more than a century long trend but the audacity of this move is honestly incredible. With America now aligned with Al Qaeda in Syria I suspect only a few more years and Bin Laden will be a canonized anti-imperialist hero, pretty much only Trump could force an issue on this doodle and he missed it, the cuckservative papers are engaged in a delicate rapprochement with AQ.

“That’s a quite hardcore, thorough psychotic terrorist.”

No evidence of psychosis, and no evidence that she ever committed a terrorist act – but be careful, brothers! She is known to us by her thoughtcrime!

“In all indexes of civilized behavior [Asians] score higher than whites. They’re better students, harder workers, commit less crimes.”

Yes! Study hard! Work hard! Obey the law! Bow down to the state, my neoreactionary comrades, and we *will* be rewarded with the alt-right utopia!
